常用语义：[formal] To make a formal, usually public, promise that you will do something. （保证、誓言）

用例：The CEO pledged that there would be no more job cuts. （首席执行官保证不会再裁员）

商务语义：To leave sth valuable with sb to prove that you will pay back money that you owe. （抵押、担保）

用例：The shares were pledged to the bank as security for loans. （这些股票作为货款的担保抵押给了银行）
